Years ago, while in law school, I worked for a non-profit legal aid, Inland Counties Legal Services, and I became a part of their senior outreach program. I went to numerous senior centers in Riverside County to aid senior citizens in their estate planning. I found this job very rewarding. I really enjoyed my time with my clients and helping them achieve peace of mind. Later, my personal experience of helping two of my grandparents with their planning in the final stages of their lives further fostered my interest in estate planning.
Then there was motherhood. Estate planning often becomes important to younger generations when they have their own children and I was no exception. I knew that a plan needed to be prepared in case something happened and my children were left without parents to care for them. I realized that I would have a rewarding career if I could help clients achieve a similar sense of security and peace of mind.
My career has taken a non-traditional path. After a brief time practicing law when I was first admitted, I put my legal career plans on the back burner for several years while I took the opportunity to stay at home with my two sons. Then in 2016, I felt it was time to return to my original career plans and I opened Shawna Murray Law.
Since 2007, I have been licensed to practice law in California and have been a member of the California State Bar. I am licensed to practice in all California courts and I am also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Central District of California.
I am a California native, born and raised in Southern California. I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor's degree and attended Southwestern Law School, also in Los Angeles, where I earned my Juris Doctorate.
While I have lived in Southern California my entire life, I moved to Orange County over 15 years ago and I have been raising my two wonderful sons in this splendid area ever since. Some of the things that I enjoy in my free time include listening to podcasts, spending time with friends and traveling.
